Challenge
A flooring manufacturer wanted to update their material handling process to improve efficiency. The manufacturer grinds old, used tires into a fine rubber dust. This fine material is then transformed into a solid roll to make flooring mats that are typically used in weight rooms, turf fields, and playgrounds. The flooring manufacturer came to DenTech with a concept of the changes they wanted to implement. DenTech took their concept and turned it into working drawings that guided fabrication, mechanical installation, and electrical installation.
Solution
Over the course of two months, our team installed various pieces of equipment for the material handling system. DenTech designed, fabricated, and installed a large material hopper.
Our team installed a Donaldson Torit Downflo® Evolution (DFE) cartridge dust collector. This system features:
- High performance filters with Ultra-Web filtration technology – fine fiber media that captures contaminants less than one micron in size
- More effective cleaning of filtration media, thanks to the MaxPulse® Cleaning System that delivers 27% more cleaning energy and focuses on the cleaning air’s exact path for uniform cleaning
- Increased filtration capacity (compared to traditional cartridge collectors), which reduces the required collector footprint
DenTech also designed the dust collector’s AyrDyne electrical control panel. Our team assembled and wired the electrical control panel; programmed the PLC, HMI, and VFD; and tested the electrical control panel to meet the manufacturer’s UL listing needs.
Results
These updates to the material handling system enable the flooring manufacturer to use the HMI to send material to various locations in the facility. The new dust collection system offers high performance filters, increased filtration capacity, and complete system control through the AyrDyne electrical control panel. All these improvements increase production efficiency in the flooring manufacturer’s facility.
